Windows 10 1809 October Update – Deployment Temporarily Delayed

Summary:  Windows 10 Version 1809 October Update has been temporarily delayed.


  • Microsoft announced on October 6, 2018 that deployment and release of the Windows 10 October 2018 Update is temporarily delayed
  • The reason for the delay as reported by Microsoft is due to issues(isolated) related to missing files after installing the update
  • At the time of this article’s publication the root cause of the missing file(s) issue(problem) is still undetermined
  • Windows 10 1809 October 2018 Update until further re-release from Microsoft will not be deployed(offered) through Windows Update for Windows 10 devices.


Recommended Action:

  • Until more information is known it is probably prudent for end-user consumers to not install Windows 10 1809 October2018 Update at this time
  • From an end-user Consumer standpoint the best plan of action is to wait until the Windows 10 October 2018  Update is available via Windows Update instead of any other available means for installing the October 2018 Update.
